What makes 1st Choice different?
A bit about me,
Mary, your dog sitter, care giver and groomer. I was
raised in Avon, Indiana with cattle surrounding my home, sharing my
life with dogs and cats. In 1994 my life went to the dogs, so to speak!
With
my two sons at my side, we started participating in dog shows
and performance events. I published two dog magazines for over 15 years
total, and continue to educate myself on canine behavior, care and
management. I work hard at making this easier for you!
With your pet here while you are at work or on
vacation, it
will be more similar to them being in their own home without the intrusion of
someone
in your home. We keep either a tv or radio on for
the guests. We
do not use kennel runs, or indoor potty areas,
we feel those teach bad house habits. Instead, they have time outside
in a securely fenced, large yard with
grass, trees
and sunshine. We do not expect them to have to "go" only two
or three times a day, and we feel this helps to keep consistent good
house manners and allows for good exercise - we all know a tired dog is
a good dog!
As an added
benefit we will run a webcam for owners to watch the dog room
(hosted on livestream), link to the cam is in the top green sidebox to
the right.
A clean environment leads to healthy dogs! Our dog daycare, boarding and grooming areas are mopped and sanitized three times a day. What we use for cleaning, sanitizing and laundry are used at many hospitals and are industral strength yet "Green" products. All linens and bedding is changed daily. Crates and indoor pens are sanitized every morning. We use Tropiclean shampoo and conditioners, another environmentally helpful product which contains no soap or detergents (safer for your dog's coat and skin).
Since good health starts on the inside, we now offer the Fastrack Dog Probiotic Gel, Supplements & Treats for purchase through our website. These products are highly beneficial to total overall health and well-being of our pets.
To maintain healthy dogs, health and
vaccination verification is required, however we do not
require that your dog be spayed or neutered!

Vet needs while here:
If a vet visit is needed during the stay, we will transport your dog to your vet. Arrangements with your vet will be needed in advance.Additionally, if the need arises, we have two vet sources within 5 to 10 minutes driving time.
