Currently Available Whippets
(Updated 05/15/2013)
The following Whippets are currently available through WRAP. Find out more about them by contacting the rescuers who are providing foster care for them. Decisions about adoptions are made by these WRAP members. (And before you pass over the older gentlemen and ladies, please see Old Folks -- these whippets still have a lot of love to give!)
Please note that there is an adoption fee for each rescue Whippet. The fee may vary based on the age of the dog and the amount of veterinary care required. Contact the respective foster caregivers for information on the adoption fee for their fosters.
WRAP does not ship Whippets to potential new homes.

5-year-old male with Barbara Henderson, VMD at (301) 490-6598 or whippoorwill01@verizon.net
Adoption Pending!
Bruce is a 5 year old brindle male who came into the US when his family re-located from Guam. While in Guam they purchased him as a rescue and so the breeder is not known. He is a pretty brindle boy who knows his basic obedience commands and he is neutered. We want him placed in the Maryland area only. He is a very nice boy but at first is shy of strangers and may warn them away from his crate. Once he knows you, he is very lovable, just needs someone to give him a loving home and give him time to settle in. He is not good with small children or cats. He is very possessive of treats and food and doesn't do well with sharing so should be the only dog in the home. So if you want a sweet dog who wants to be the center of your attention, Bruce might be right for you.

Shadow
I am a 10-year-old girl who lost her beloved owner suddenly. I used to watch him while he worked in the garden. I have been beautifully cared for if I do say so myself, and I come with thousands of Toys and blankets.br>
My foster home has a lot of dogs and I was not the least bit phased by their barking and carrying on. I am house broken.

Daisy Mae
Daisy Mae is a pretty fawn and white Whippet. Daisy Mae is currently undergoing a new type of heartworm treatment for two weeks. After the treatment is concluded, she will be retested and prescribed heartworm prevention for a year, retested, and if negative, placed on heartworm prevention once a month for the rest of her life. Daisy Mae is ok with other pets in the home as long as they do not invade her space. Probably better in a home with older nice children and no cats as she tends to chase them. She enjoys wandering the fenced yard and will run in small spurts. She tends to be anxious if left alone. She will go to bed when told and loves the new bed her foster mom just bought her. She does not seem interested in toys, but loves attention from people. Daisy Mae has a very loving personality towards her foster mom and dad. If you have love in your heart and space in your home, please contact the foster mom for more information about Daisy Mae.
8-year-old male with Emily Carabello at (910) 581-2468 or

Peanut
Peanut is an eight-year-old white and red brindle neutered male. He is a BIG boy, weighing around thirty-eight pounds. Peanut is good with other dogs, but not with cats. He likes to cuddle and would love to sleep in bed. He can clear a four-foot fence and would be best in a situation where he can be leash walked or in an enhanced fence. Peanut is up to date on all his vaccines and heart worm/flea medication. For more information on Peanut, call Emily Carabello at (910) 581-2468 or Traci Bean at (828) 217-9988
Oregon 15 year-old female with Lori Rose at freerangewhippets@comcast.net or (503) 245-1393
Ladybug is a pretty Finnish-born fawn brindle girl. She was released back to WRAP after being adopted 7 years ago as her human is in hospice care and wanted to make sure Ladybug is well cared for. She is spry and happy and well behaved. She loves her treats and dinner. Ladybug is happiest in a fluffy bed or sunbathing in a warm window. She would enjoy a quiet home for her retirement. Ladybug has an old foot injury which makes her hobble occasionally, but is taking medication for comfort. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet senior, please contact the foster mom. Check back frequently for more rescue listings.
